Little is known as to the origins of the Los Statos Cuban cigar brand. Much of the record and history appears to have been lost. It's thought that the cigar brand may have been registered in the Cuban capital city in the early twentieth century by a Hungarian businessman. Alternate versions of it's history point to a Spaniard whose surname was Martínez for having founded the Los Statos cigars marque. Both versions hold some level of validity.
Certainly, the logo and cigar box design includes features such as the eagle with elements and imagery relating to Central European tradition and aristocratic heraldry. However, the design indeed does identify Martínez, Hno. y Cía, as the brand manufacturers.
