Brand Profile

Founded in 1996, Alec Bradley Cigars has gone the distance, earning itself a position as one of the cigar industry's top producers of premium, boutique cigars. Highly sought after for their excellence and creative blends, Alec Bradley cigars now enjoy a loyal worldwide following.

In 2011, the Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill cigar was awarded an extremely rare 96 rating by Cigar Aficionado magazine, and was then awarded the No.1 cigar in the world designation.

Alan Rubin has always had a passion for fine cigars. So, when his family's import business was sold in 1996, he decided to build a cigar company dedicated to bringing the time-honored tradition of Cuban-style handmade cigars to the market. At that time, the "cigar boom" was at its peak. Unable to do it alone, Alan brought in his friend Ralph Montero (now the company's executive vice president), to oversee the company's daily operations.

When it came to deciding who would produce their first cigars, they were fortunate enough to develop a partnership with renowned master blender, Henke Kelner, known for his work with Davidoff in The Dominican Republic. The first cigars he produced for Alec Bradley Cigars were the Occidental Reserve selection. Debuting in 1999, the brand received favorable reviews, getting the new company off to a good start.

One of the elements that has made Alec Bradley unique among boutique cigar makers is its willingness to be edgy. In 2002, the company introduced the Trilogy line. These cigars employed a triangular press, resulting in a three-sided cigar. Four years later, they introduced Alec Bradley Maxx. Made at Plasencia's Tabacos de Oriente factory in Danli, Honduras, Maxx was an all oversized selection ranging from 5 to 9¼-inches in length and from 50 to 60 gauge in ring size. Priced affordably, Maxx drew a lot of attention upon its release, but the best was yet to come.

By 2007, Alec Bradley Cigars had clearly established itself as a major contender in the premium cigar industry. The question was, "How would they follow their own act?" The answer came one year later with the release of Alec Bradley Tempus selection. Latin for "time," Tempus was seven years in the making. In 2001 the company had found an exquisite and flavorful Corojo wrapper leaf grown in the Trojes region of Honduras. Giving the leaf enough time to fully-cure, the cigars were produced at Raices Cubanas, resulting in an unprecedented "94" tasting score for the Tempus "Centuria." This achievement significantly raised the bar for the company, as well as the releases that followed, including the Family Blend, Overture, Sun Grown, Prensado and Black Market, among others.

Today, Alec Bradley Cigars continues to produce many of the finest and most innovative premium cigars you'll ever put to your lips. If you haven't had the pleasure of smoking an Alec Bradley cigar, you're missing something quite extraordinary. Try one of their award-winning cigars today and taste for yourself!
