CAO Italia Gondola - Box of 20

This figurado is produced from an Italian Habano seed brought to Italy from Cuba 40+ years ago. This seed is grown in the Benevento region of southern Italy. The result is the CAO Italia Gondola cigar with a unique earthy-sweetness, that rounds out CAO Italia's robust, full-bodied flavor.

CAO cigars, one of the world's foremost premium cigar manufacturers, was awarded a 91 (outstanding) rating for its CAO Italia Novella cigar in the February issue of Cigar Aficionado magazine, widely regarded as the ultimate authority on premium cigars.

Furthermore, CAO Italia Novella made the distinguished list of "The Best Cigars of 2006", as chosen by Cigar Aficionado. Of the hundreds of cigars rated by both Cigar Aficionado and Cigar Insider over the previous 12 months, only 25 were selected for this distinction. Placing 13th on the list of the year's Top 25 cigars, CAO Italia Novella was rated higher than such legendary Cuban brands as Montecristo cigars , Punch cigars and Diplomaticos cigars. The CAO Italia Novella was described as "considerably strong, heavy on the red and black peppercorns, and leather."

An attractive looking cigar, gorgeous coffee and nut aroma pre-light. Draw is terrible; initial draw was almost non existent, really had to work my lungs to get any smoke. Wasn't until the half way the draw loosened up to be workable. Flavor was a nice coffee with nutty and leather notes, aroma's rich and dark coffee like. Overall a good cigar, except the extremely tight draw.

CAOs always seem well made to me. This is no exception with a great draw. The dark wrapper is a pleasure to look at and is nice an oily. Starts spicy with cedar notes, with complexity building in the 2nd third, and ending with pleasant nut flavors. Burned it to the nub. Will be fun to see how this evolves after some down time in the humi.
